So I have now entered my 3rd week in Disney...next week it'll be a month. How scary is that!?! Before I know it, ill be in my last month!
Sunday was my last official training day! Woop! One of the girls pointed this out to me and i ripped the little 'earning my ears' ribbon off my badge! I felt so proud! I now am a fully fledged cast member! Yay!
The next arrival group arrived last week and they are about to commence their training so the title of the newbies has now been passed on to them! They all came in today to have a look around, so weird that 3 weeks ago, that was me!
At the moment, it's like 80F at the moment! That's what..? 26 almost 27C! Insane! So as you can imagine, standing outside on a till gets mighty uncomfortable in all those layers. Suprsingly the costumes' not too bad...its where everything meets in the middle that's unbearable! Its nice though when you get the breeze but when you don't get that, its scorching and I've defiantly got a bit of colour from it!
We sunbathed by the pool on Sunday and I've already got a little burnt. That's right...sunburn...in FEBRUARY! That's not right at all!
I have no idea what its like back home but i heard today that its been raining alot? Well no shock there really!
I have my first day off in like 10 days coming up on Thursday! Well we had last Thursday off for social security day (where we got our numbers sorted, you cant work in the US without one) but getting up- at 5am doesn't really class as a day off right?! So I think a bunch of us will go to Typhoon Lagoon or something...I'm so excited! I've never been and as cast members we get in for free! :)
So my mother decides its time to start being a bitch and throwing her weight around again...shes doing my head in with thinking that I can just get on skype whenever I'm free..which is not the case as my laptops a pile off poo and she seems to forget that I'm 5 hours behind her! Shes also demanding I write little newsletters for the fam. which I will do but Ive been here all of 3 weeks...not very long and not long enough for me to write in a news letter. Shes also reminding me of families birthdays coming up...on my dads side! This bugs me greatly...I think she thinks because I made an effort to see her more before I left, that shes now back in my good books and start being her old self. Its really getting to me. I kinda knew this would happen.
I wrote a huge long email to my dad earlier..I've only properly spoken to him once since Ive been here which is weird to me, i hate that actually. Yeah I'm a daddy's girl...already established this but being that hes a driving instructor and that i now am phoneless, i have no contact other than email.
Writing all that I've done so far has defiantly kicked in the homesickness.
Ive been fighting with it since the end of last week but now its starting to hit me that I'm here for a year. Shit timing! Ah well. But I'm now missing home. Especially when I see people planning things that I cant be involved in! Yeah I know, I'm in Disney doing what I've dreamed of for ages...but it still doesn't mean i don't miss everything, everyone, every little detail of my life back home.
I miss Ben so much now too. I miss being able to just chill at his with movies, i miss staying at his, i miss all the little things...not having skype is probably adding to this and the fact i have no phone yet either! maaan! Why does technology always seem to die around me?!
Ive just realised how sad and depressing this post must sound! Its probably giving off the impression I'm having a rough time or something and I'm not enjoying myself! I'm not, i am enjoying myself..I'm so happy that I'm finally here and doing my own thing!..its standard to miss home and i guess I'm just in that stage at the moment and I'll come out of it soon.
Im gunna sign off now and watch a movie :) Love Ben for giving me this website address to watch movies on..a life saver really! Im so shattered its ridiculous so chilling out with a movie is right up my street right now!
Ive made it to Disneyworld! This blog is for you guys to keep up to date with what Im doing and how Im feeling! Hope you guys enjoy!

Happy Valentines Day people
Ergh, Valentines Day...such a beautiful day for those who have someone to share it with. I hate that I should have, but that big blue ocean has decided to plonk itself between us. It would be so cool if I could live here, but just go down the road and England was there..I could see him and everyone whenever I wanted!
Ive never really been a fan of Valentines day as a. Ive never really had anyone to share it with or gotten anything (pause for the awwww) and b. i kinda think its all just a big scam to get people to spend money...call me scrooge or whatever...everyone has their own views on valentines day :)
Okay...so tomorrow, I'll have been here for 2 weeks...I cant believe it, yet it feels like SO much longer.
So..Wednesday..I had my first shift in my new job. Theres 2 areas in the UK pavilion which I'll be working in...the Fish and Chip shop (chippie) and The Rose and Crown pub. I'll be trained in both areas, and trained as seater and greeter in the pub and then moving on up to server after I've been here for 90 days and passed a test...I think its a bit over the top to have to pass a test to determine whether you can serve or not but I guess Disney has its own way of serving!
So I've started in the Chippie and on Wednesday, I was trained as a filler, which basically means, reading the order that has been sent to the kitchen, filling the cardboard tray with how every many portions of fish and chips the guest has ordered and filling up drinks and making teas and coffees...you get the idea. It sounds boring but its actually alot of fun and everyones so lovely in there. On Thursday, I was trained on chippie tills, where I'm taking the customers order and putting it through the till and taking payments. I was actually dreading this part...I'm shocking with math and shocking with working out American coins! Put the 2 together and surely its a recipe for disaster! But I was actually okay and picked it up pretty quickly! I feel quite confident about both areas but practice makes perfect! I believe I have one training shift left then I'm on my own? Eeeep! That freaks me out! But come Friday I'm switching over to the pub to be trained in there...cant wait! Means I don't have to wear that god awful bonnet which makes me look like a baby!
Friday I went to the Magic Kingdom with Helen and Jon and it was so much fun! Was so awesome to just pop your cast ID in the turnstiles and walk right through! I love not having to pay to play! :)
We had a fantastic day though but it was flipping cold! Like being home in England cold!
I got my first experience of the Disney fireworks...I loooove fireworks so my excitement was uncontainable! At quarter to 8 they did something called The Magic, The Memories an You! Basically...you know the Disney photographers around the parks...well all the photographs that they take during the day, get projected onto the Castle and they have fireworks and special effects which are also projected onto the castle so it changes colour and the designs are all different. It was mesmerising! We'd had some photographs taken throughout the day so we were all trying to spot ours! We stayed for Wishes too...Ive never seen this and didn't know what to expect. All I can say, is if you come to the Magic Kingdom, if you're gonna be working over here, you HAVE to see this show. It is INCREDIBLE. Sent shivers down my spine and honestly bought a tear to my eye.
Helen's gotten me into pin trading too! I feel like a right Disney geek but I love it! Constantly looking at pins now! :)
Went to the Hollywood studios on Saturday, again the weather was sunny but chilly..Its like England's followed me here! But again, another great day!
Had Sunday off too :) Loved the whole weekend off! Had my first lye in since I got here, finally! I cant seem to sleep past 9am these days, it sucks! But yesterday Lauren, Kylie and I popped to Epcot to drop something to Meena ( how cool is it to say, yeah I popped into Epcot, where I WORK! I work here! ) Yeah, I know you're all chuckling as you read this but I don't care! :)
I attempted to talk to the mother on skype when I got back, Lauren was kind enough to lend me hers as my computer sucks! She decided that watching the BAFTA's...that she had RECORDED was more important and was like I'll catch you tomorrow. Erm..I live in America...a totally different time zone..you kinda have to plan these things! Just so happens I'm working till 10 tonight!
I still haven't sorted a phone out yet...its really difficult to keep up with people here without a phone..yeah theres the house phone but when you're out and about its difficult! But I'm gonna have to wait till next weeks so Ive got more money and I'll go to Florida Mall...the bus from the Commons only goes on a Tuesday so hopefully I'll have Tuesday off...if not I'll have to figure out another way!
Just a quick note for all who are coming to Florida soon...Yummy jobs said to bring between $200 and $400...this is NOT enough...you need more than that otherwise you WILL struggle. My first shop I did at Walmart cost me $109...I got the essentials that I needed but it hasn't left me with alot so Ive had to simplify and live basically. I'm used to it but I did have panic attacks about it so just to pre warn you...hope that helps!
I got my first 2 pieces of post yesterday...one from my Gran, who had filled up both sides of the card and a piece of paper! And then one from my mother...which simply said, 'Hope you're having a great time in the states' Nice! But I got stupidly, really excited over them..funny what words from home will do to you!
Alice has apparently sent me a Valentines card but forgot it was today so its gonna be late! Great sister I have there! But I'm excited to receive it, thats IF shes even remember to send it! I miss her so much its ridiculous

This time last week
How scary is it that this time last week Helen and I were just leaving the airport on the coaches to Vista Way to sign in?!
I cant believe its been a week but in the same way I cant believe its only been a week! It feels a hell of a lot longer, I'm guessing because we've done so much and learnt so much in such a small space of time.
I think I'm just about adjusted to the time change here. I'm finding it alot easier to get up early here than I did back home..maybe that all part and parcel of the adjustment and that will disappear soon?! I hope not!
Since the last time i posted, not much has happened! Just basically more e learning and classes and being talked to and shown around areas. Warning to all you newbies...the first week...it is boring, but hang in there! It gets more exciting towards the end of the week!
ITS ALL OVER NOW! Today was the last day of learning...hopefully! I start work in the fish and chip restaurant (chippie) tomorrow, well training, and I'm actually really nervous! Which i find odd...i was a supervisor in a restaurant! I wanna get everything right...I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to work so that doesn't help! Oh well, everyone we met today seems lovely so I'm sure its gonna be fine!
Today was a really fun day actually but I'm not gonna ruin for any newbies reading this so I'm just gonna say, the discovery day you guys have is gonna be fun! :)
Ive got the WHOLE weekend off this week..Friday to Sunday..I haven't had that in 2 years..honest to god. So you can guess my excitement! :) I think a bunch of us are gonna go to the magic kingdom on Friday..its the last day that toon town is open as its closing and being changed for something else so figure it would be a good thing to document and then i think I'm gonna go to Hollywood studios on Saturday with some others :) oh the joy of staff discounts!

Who said Traditions was boring?!
Ive got a bit of free time so i figure, ill update again as the next couple of days are gonna be busy for me. Wow aren't you guys lucky?!
Had my skype date with Ben last night :) It was so good to hear his voice and see him. Made me miss him so much more but I defiantly felt more relaxed and calm after having reassuring words from him. I love that hes so supportive and, well not worried about me but like looking out for me and making sure I'm okay. I'm guessing he definatly knows and understands how apprehensive and worried I was about going. Hes made it so much easier and I love him for that. Defiantly didn't realise we spent an hour chatting and defiantly love Helen for waiting up until I'd finished!
Well today I had Traditions; its basically a class which teaches you all you need to know about the Disney company as a whole and what they aim to achieve and what you are expected to bring as a cast member..did i mention that it was an 8 and half HOUR day?! Man alive!
But it was actually quite fun! I'd heard it was long and tedious but the guys we had talking to us defiantly made it more fun for us!
Day didn't start too well...having to be ready for 7.30am is not the one! Woke up at 6.15am to shower and get ready...the one downside of having a roommate is that you feel so bad for making noise but I had to shower and dry my hair! But luckily she was up for the same time so its all good! I blew the bloody hairdryer half way through drying me hair though! GREAT! The light in our bedroom doesn't work now either...oopsie! So i think its just the fuse or something so hopefully it can be fixed! I'm such a liability its insane!
But I managed to be ready in time and we all caught the coach over to the Disney University..i know right?! Disney has its own University! Its insane!
Basically the day consisted of listening to alot of rules and regulations, learning about the company and what it owns...it was actually quite interesting and the presenters made it fun with games and prizes...I won a Minnie and a Donald Duck statue thing which I will defiantly treasure :)
Best part was that we got to go into the Magic Kingdom and go behind the scenes! How amazing?! We caught the bus over and as we stopped to let some people off, BELLE got onto the buss and we also saw TINKERBELL run across the parking lot! So surreal!
They took us through the underground tunnel network which is underneath the Castle itself...its INCREDIBLE!
We got a little time to have a look around the park before lunch. Your sitting in the cafeteria and princes and princesses walk in with half done make up and costumes, its just incredible, I felt like such a little kid getting all excited!
We then went back to the Uni for more learning but we got a visit from MICKEY MOUSE! who dropped off our name badges and we also received our Disney IDs which gets us into the 4 park for FREE! eeeep!
Now its all real!
Also got our schedules for the next couple of days...I have a training class tomorrow from 1pm and then on Monday, I'm going across to Epcot to START WORKING! I get my costume and get trained whilst working! I'm so so so excited! Cannot control my excitement right now!

The Magic has begun :)
So I've been in Orlando for 3 days now and its still not sunk in that I'm here!
I cant believe its been a year since I found this programme and I'm now sat here in the living room, blogging about it! Its totally insane!
These past 4 days have gone by in such a flash I've barely had time to stop and take a breath! This is literally (Helen pointed it out that i constantly say this word and now I'm so conscious of it! i need to stop it!)the first block of time I've had to sit down and collect my thoughts a put it down into writing! So here goes!
Monday night seems like such a long time ago. I had final drinks with friends, just quiet as Saturday night I was defiantly too wasted!
It was so nice to just sit round and chat for a bit, kinda calmed my nerves too.
I stayed at Ben's on Monday night; he bought me a compass link for my bracelet and had made me 6 Cd's full of music, 2 for leaving, 2 for my time in America and 2 for homecoming. Ive never felt so much of a rush of appreciation and love for someone than I did then. No ones ever done something like that for me, I felt so touched that he'd gone through all that trouble just for me.
We left for the airport at 10 and met Helen who I was flying with, and Jon who we also ended up flying with.
I had my own little party who came with me :) Ben, my dad and sister, Tom and Sam. I love them all so much for coming but I defiantly think they all had some secret mission going on to make me cry! Sam's present to me was a personalised link made by her friend and had been engraved with a picture of the castle in Disneyland Paris and the dates we went. Actually amazing..I love it so much! So now I have 4 links :) A suitcase that work bought me, a compass from Ben so I can find my way home, the world from Alice and this new one from Sam. I'm so lucky! :)
Goodbyes were hard, sister defiantly bawled it! Dad was close, he defiantly did the really tight hug and squeeze to stop himself crying! I'm glad Tom, Ben and Sam didn't...I think I would have lost it then.
The flight was long and tedious...we got delayed because of the wind too! But we landed around 6pm!
Going through passport control both me and Helen got stopped and taken into a side room so they could double check us but Jon didn't and we lost him! Note for any upcoming Disneyers...take down the number of the person you are flying withs number if you are flying with someone as you are not allowed to wait around once you've gone through passport control!
We didn't get to Vista Way (one of the 4 living complexes for Disney cast members) until 9pm because of all this and waiting around for the coaches to pick us up!
Finally got to our actual apartment complex (The Commons)just before 10pm! ouch! There was one girl here at that time, Amy from Hong Kong and she was so lovely!
Absolutely shattered by this time but i thought i better unpack and set up to make it more homely! Think I finally made it to bed at around midnight!
Another note for you Disneyers, they don't supply ANYTHING for your bed...its literally the mattress. I was advised to just leave things like that at home as you can buy it out here for cheap which is true but unless you have an uber early flight then you WILL NOT get the time to go somewhere and buy bed linen, so make sure you bring a blanket! I fashioned a pillow out of scarves and slept with my coat and more scarves over me...kinda felt humiliating actually! Especially when we had more arrivals come at 2.30am!
I'm sharing with a girl called Georgia and shes from Italy, shes lovely! And then there are 2 German girls, Lisa and Lina and a girl from Norway, Melina...so 6 of us in total!
My first proper day was spent signing what felt like every piece of paper under the sun and having the fact that I'm now underage, drummed into me! We got out Id's for the living complexes, that we have to have on us at all times so we can get back in! Its a little anal!
A group of us went to Walmart to do out first shop and I bought pretty much everything I needed as I stupidly packed European plug sockets instead of American ones! Doh!
We then went to Downtown Disney which was absolutely amazing! It was packed full of people and it was so much fun, walking round with the girls and seeing everything!
Yesterday was yet MORE paperwork but we got out pay cards issued :) First pay check is next Thursday! eeeep! Then a group of us went back to Downtown Disney and walked around, then me Helen and Jon went to go see Tangled...AMAZING film! The cinema was amazing too! You can make the seats into sofas and like stretch out over them! Genius idea!
Ive had a day off today so Ive spent it chilling out and sorting out bits and bobs. Its been nice but now I just wanna get into it and start work! We have traditions tomorrow and I'll get my badge and Disney ID! So excited! Oh and we get out costumes I believe?! SOO excited for that! I'll post pictures when i get it so you can laugh!
Have my first skype date with Ben tonight :) I cant wait! I miss him lots. But I'm having lots of trouble with skype and every other form of video chat so Helen's letting me use her computer. Love her lots for that!
Everyone I've met so far has been lovely, I'm so glad I've got the housemates I have. We had a meeting this evening about setting up a cleaning schedule and what we are gonna do about food and they're all as eager to input and sort it out as can be! Georgia's gonna cook us a pasta dish one night..pasta from an Italian! That's gotta be good! I said id cook and English breakfast for everyone so I think its guna be a good relationship with them! Cannot wait!
I better go because I could write so much more and probably bore you with it! But this is a broken down account of what Ive been up to so far. It so weird that I've been here for 3 days now...it feels like I'm on holiday, still doesn't feel real yet.
I'll update as much as possible but I'm expecting that I'm gonna be mega busy next week with it being my first week of work so bare with me!
I cant believe its been a year since I found this programme and I'm now sat here in the living room, blogging about it! Its totally insane!
